Proposition HH gives property tax relief - I'm voting yes - here's why - RobertH - 10-16-2023 Here's an article in Colorado Sun on Proposition HH which provides property tax relief: https://coloradosun.com/2023/10/11/proposition-hh-colorado-ballot-explained/ I found Colorado Sun to be a transparent source - if they have a bias, it's not apparent ... but unlike some of the mailers I've gotten, you know who they are. In the article they provide a savings calculator that looks unbiased as it's from the state government. https://hhcalc.apps.coleg.gov/calculators You'll need your property value from here: https://maps.boco.solutions/propertysearch/ If HH passes: Everyone gets a Tabor refund of $832, Property tax increases are limited to 4% Senior exemption becomes portable in 2025 (important for downsizing). If you're making over 157K/year you'll pay $221/year more - however, it looks like your property valuation is still capped at the 4%, which is a benefit. The > $157,000 case doesn't apply to me, so I haven't researched it very well - however, I include it in the interest of the best transparency I can offer. With the valuation rise limit, and the portability of exemptions for seniors, it seems like it would be beneficial for high income folk too.
