Work to Do - Julia - 11-06-2024 For anyone who didn’t vote for the felon and adjudicated rapist and is concerned about our planet, science and healthcare, democracy and our friends and daughters; this is from the Atlantic and helped me: Trump’s victory is a grim day for the United States and for democracies around the world. You have every right to be appalled, saddened, shocked, and frightened. Soon, however, you should dust yourself off, square your shoulders, and take a deep breath. Americans who care about democracy have work to do. RE: Work to Do - RandyO - 11-06-2024 Thank You Julia, A mere 32 years ago, I was part of a group of people who went to Russia, to help and show them how to build disc drives.- mere months after Communism had failed, and many months before Putin took over the state. Every time there was a situation that prompted one of us to ask a translator- Why is this - this way ? Or why are things done this way ? Their answer was always-- "It All started in 1917" the takeover of the Communists. I hope as strongly as I can wish, that We will Not be looking back and saying--- "Well, it all started back in 2024" God (the correct one) help Us - Take care of each other ! RE: Work to Do - Kara Edin - 11-07-2024 Thank you Julia, In the wake of this event, I think what we need is each other. We don't take our small beautiful lives up here for granted, or the eccentric marvelous community that nurtures us. Jamestown/Bark K is such a beautifully woven tapestry of people. Before the pandemic we were closer knit, and we struggled to stay that way through those four years of isolation. We're now looking at four years of what is likely to be difficult at best. This is the time to re-strengthen the bonds between us, to help each other in our small, profound ways. This is not the isolating event of a pandemic, it is a time to come together with more love, compassion, ingenuity and creativity than ever (something I've found Jamestown/Bar K has plenty of). One of the few bright lights during the pandemic was that more folks moved up to the Jamestown/Bar K area...new blood for our beloved mountain town! Together we can continue co-creating the kindness, thoughtfulness and health of our community. I will keep my finger on the daily pulse of what's happening on the national/world stage, but as someone who is settling in to the life-phase of Elder, the daily work of a healthy community is my focus. I plan to strengthen the bonds between us in my small little part. Lead with love, but stay sensitive to your environment - I think that's a healthy recipe for balance and clarity in a time like this. RE: Work to Do - tulkula - 11-07-2024 I love your words Kara, they resonate deeply. Thank you.
