cat litter is pretty good for traction.  I'm bringing some for the pantry road tonight.  If anyone else wants to pitch in it might save some difficult situations.

Fireplace or wood stove ash helps, as long as there aren't any nails in it  Confused

Rose, it's messy for sure. I scatter it when the wind isn't blowing in the turn around area on West Mesa St. seems to help.

Thanks, Hollis!  Pretty cool how the ashes can help with the ice - potassium salts (which also may explain why the Corvids like to peck around where ashes have been spread), the dark color holding warmth from sunlight, as well as particle traction.  Great tool!  Starting experiments today. . .
