BIAH #16 Important Dates - messa - 02-03-2025
Hey, party people. Our beloved Band in a Hat is fast approaching, and I wanted to share upcoming dates with you all.
- Signups will go live in person on Saturday, February 15th, at the Cosmic Winter Wonderfest; Online Signup is Here.
- Band drawings will be held at the Merc on Friday, February 28th. We plan to announce the bands during the set break.
- BIAH #16 will take place Saturday, April 12 @ 6 PM in Town Hall
Everyone of ALL ages, styles, levels, and locations is welcome.
Sign up for ONE of the following INSTRUMENT CATEGORIES:
- BASS (limited slots available)
- DRUM KIT (limited slots available)
- VOCALS
- STRINGS (anything besides bass, including electric/acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, etc.)
- WINDS (anything you blow, such as horns, flute, sax, recorder, didgeridoo, etc.)
- OTHER (anything not listed above, such as hand drums/percussion, keyboards, drunk stick, kazoo, marimba, washboard, jugs, pots, pans, etc.)
- KID BAND (see below for details)
band has 6 weeks to create a 30-minute set of original or cover tunes, theater, comedy, or whatever
your band invents for the show on April 12th! This is just for fun and not for competition.
Print very clearly your name & contact info for ONE instrument category per person (although you
may play others and/or sing as determined by your band) and specify WHICH instrument you will play.
Also indicate if you can offer a practice space (The JAM Hut is available for practice space if needed).
Missing or illegible info may preclude you from the drawing. Please only sign for yourself.
Two people from the same household may sign up together in ONE instrument category of the
sign-up sheet (for scheduling and practice space convenience). Because this is a unique circumstance,
both household members must decide on one category to enter while the other becomes a bonus band member.
Each musician must be committed to having loads of fun, collaborating amicably with others,
and attending scheduled practices. Please do not drop out midway! In the event of drop-out, the
band may do what it takes to make a great set, such as continuing with the remaining members, calling in
a replacement, or implementing other ideas they may have.
All musicians MUST be signed up BY the drawing date (February 28th) to participate.
SOUND PEOPLE are also needed. Please get in touch with us if you can help with sound!
The ORDER OF THE BANDS at the show will be determined later, and all bands will be notified.
KIDS-IN-A-HAT!
- ALL KIDS are welcome up to age 18 with parental permission.
- Children under age five must be accompanied by an adult to each practice and at the show.
- Sign up HERE and indicate the child’s name and age.
- Kids can but need not sign up for specific instruments, as interests will be determined during practices, and there will be many instruments to try! The kid band is not randomly drawn.
- After the drawing date, parents will be notified of the practice schedule and location.
- Kids must be committed to attending the practices scheduled by the band.
- Teens over 18 may sign up for an adult band as outlined above.
- Kids aged 14-18 with musical experience may audition to be in an adult band!
