This article reminds me of the time the mining engineer at the mine I worked in the mid Sixties was learning Navajo to better communicate with the Dine that worked there. The work force in that mine was probably 90% Navajo guys. They got a lot of laughs from the engineer's mispronunciation of words and general unfamiliarity with the nuances of the language. On one occasion he gave what he thought were simple directions to complete a piece of mine work but the Navajo guy laughed and said what the engineer really said was: "Tell that white guy to come here, I'm going to eat him."
