Food Rescue
#1
THANK YOU EVERYONE for you’re food rescue survey responses- SUPER HELPFUL!

Right now- plan is to continue with BOTH pantries (Tues & Sat) for at least the next 3 months. However, we are discussing and potentially planning on adding/changing hrs to Tues & Sat pickup to accommodate more folks. Maybe 5-7. Or 4-6 (especially during winter) As well as Sat pickup. We’ll let ya know?
Again- as we’ve experienced, Tues distribution is HUGE compared to Sat.

With that in mind- should you desire to participate in a volunteer role- please contact LYNNIE @: lynniemiddledorf@gmail.com

Positions:
Mon/fri Pickups: 10:30-12ish in boulder. As well as Fri Ned pickup be there @ 1:00pm- Community Center
Mon/fri drop offs- weigh, separate (for Ward 1/2) organize
Tues/sat: distribution- setup, distribute, cleanup
Tues: (right now) 5-7:30/8
Sat: (right now) 10:15-12:30/1

Box flatteners/recycling drivers: (hopefully will be approved grant for 1x/month pickup- Greengirl) + JT monthly pickup= 2x month

Trash(minimal) 1x/month - 1 orange bag, set on lower main OR finding generous neighbor to add to already established bin usually consists of plastic wrapping, produce bags- hopefully zero food, should we be approved composting plan.

WINTER HELP: snow plower for Cemetery and roundabout at pantry- hoping to have designated collection box for gas, etc.

Soon to be ??(Also based on grant approval?):
Compost preparers- chop/blend(cuisinart) compost (leftovers) and feed, soon to be, commercial worm bins- Flexible schedule - Can be done same time as distribution or at your convenience.

Compost maintainers? (more to come)

Please specify schedules and capacity of volunteering when contacting Lynnie. We aim for 3 months scheduling at a time. If you are scheduled and unable to fulfill your duties it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND A REPLACEMENT. Of course, first timers will be trained with a seasoned volunteer for all positions.

Should you be unable to physically help volunteer-? we will soon be able to offer opportunities to donate cash in person and electronically to a food pantry bank acct governed under the new Jamestown Area Community Foundation non profit (more info soon!)- aiding the inner workings of the pantry- funds will be used for new equipment (tables, deep freeze, cleaning supplies, maintenance, utility bills, etc as well as help compensate pickup drivers with gas cards. Bank acct will be established after Turkey holiday ?

THANK YOU ALL! This could never work without the generosity of so many! Special thanks to Amie Wineburg (longtime mountain friend) who helped establish the mountain food network with Boulder Food Rescue as well as our own Jaye Brotherton for bringing this resource to our community, Lynnie for taking on the executive position like a champ and all 20 of our volunteers who have carried us all this time ❤️ YOU'RE THE BEST. With this holiday season upon us- can’t help but to be continuously GRATEFUL & THANKFUL ❤️ Much love Community.
Julie
