Hi folks,
I've been receiving a notice from Xcel encouraging me to buy "Exterior electrical  and Water service line coverage". Has anyone done this? Is it necessary?

I've received several notices from "Xcel", by mail, on my door, and by email. It seems to be from a 3rd party, maybe affiliated or not with Xcel.
I didn't read the fine print, I tossed it.

Check your homeowners policy for such matters and or consult your agent, and read the fine print  (what's covered and not covered) ;O)

I believe it’s common, if not obvious why, for power companies to offer coverage for water intake and sewer pipes. Ours in Virginia does and we have it for the intake, which runs under a public sidewalk and costs thousands for repair and sidewalk restoration—it happened to a neighbor. Typically $7-8 a month added to your bill.
