This week's offering will be "THE COMMITMENTS", based on a Roddy Doyle story about a bunch of Irish lads and ladies who love soul music and decide to form a band. It's full of some bodacious toonz and nicely illustrates the embryology, maturation, and eventual disintegration of a promising musical unit, with all the drama and humor inherent to youthful enterprises. And, it has Colm Meany, one of my favorites, as the Elvis worshiping patriarch of the budding empressario who initiates this rollicking rumpus. I always enjoy some company. If yer partial to Celtic shenannigan, don't miss it.
