Young, mostly naked man
#1
encountered on the middle path above Blue Jay. Unfortunately he was masturbating. Fortunately, I saw him when I was around 30 ft. away and turned around. He started following me and fortunately again for me he didn't catch up. Heads up! Pun intended..kinda.  Sad

hey there, Karla and women of JT
YUCK!
and
as many of you know, i was born and raised in a pretty dangerous part of The Bronx, and after being terrorized for years of my childhood by strange men jerking off and following me once they sensed i was scared, i learned by high school to grab a stick— and we have plenty of those in these hills—pine boughs, fallen aspen bodies— and just run at the creeps, with the fiercest war cry i can manage, and swing right for their hand and what's it's holding.
It's very satisfying and effective.
if anyone wants to get together and practice fierce war cries and that swing, LMK— i'm always up for amping our protection with creative solutions.

Did you report this to the Sheriff's Dept?

More than likely the activity the young man was engaged in constitutes indecent exposure (minimally) in a public place, as far as I know the National Forest is a public place.

But the fact that he, as you stated, began to follow you, changes the whole dynamics, from indecent exposure, to potentially a matter of sexual predation, or an offense along those lines.

Either way, it really doesn't seem something to be made light of given the nature of the incident, there are other women and children in the area that use those trails.

I 10000000 % agree Hollis. It was very scary when he started following me. I did report this to the Sheriff's Dept yesterday so now it is on record.
And yeah Oak, that would be satisfying for sure. Who knew I would need my stick for that purpose and my NYC attitude with me while walking in the pristine forests of JT. Sad

What disturbs me is not that the youngster was too dim witted to get off the trail and find a private grove to “enjoy nature.” It’s that, when discovered, he pursued Karla.
I’m glad the situation did not escalate to the point Karla needed to defend herself.
Now come the “what ifs”.
Stop and fill in a few “what ifs” for yourself.
Here’s something to ponder:
That land is Boulder County Open Space.
Our County Commissioners just voted to prohibit both open and concealed carry firearms on open space lands.
Feel safe yet?
(Palm slap to forehead)
Your vote counts.

Karla, so sorry you had to experience this.  I also don’t mean to make light of a disturbing situation, but Oak’s post is a powerful visual and a ballad takes off in my mind. I hope it does not offend anyone. Peace all!

The Ballad of Willy the Wanker

There was a young fellow and Willy’s his name,
a notorious wanker was his claim to fame.
He journeyed to Jamestown- a nice mountain town
to hike in the forest where none were around.
The day was a hot one; he went for a dip
in the creek by the trail, he hastened to strip.
Now naked, and horny, he pulled his junk out,
forgetting all reason, did not look about
when all of a sudden, a warrior cry
was heard in the distance, then all went awry!
A warrior princess named Oak did appear
with a stick in her hand that she shook like a spear!
A screech and a howl, a loud reprimand
and she brought the stick down on his junk and his hand.
The man was no match for the warrior queen
and he ran for his life with his clothes by the stream.
The women of Jamestown gave Oak a big cheer—
no longer would they have to live life in fear!
Let this be a lesson, don’t you dare take a chance—
when hiking in Jamestown keep your wang in your pants!!

Oh my God making light of it is the exact correct medicine I think.
I think I injured myself laughing.
Yeah reprehensible
Yeah stupid
Yeah illegal for sure.
But this post made my day Sandi I love you.
Oak I want to do the warrior video.
Karla sorry you ran into some jerk off.
Kate, I'm not sure I would shoot him but I'd make him do a little dance and then turn Willy Wanker into the sheriff....or at least to Oak
Yeah Oak.
