The Archer hens enjoy an organic diet, with plenty of fresh veggies and fruits.

The latest from the Archer Hens:
As you may be aware, last week the young hens had their coming out debut (first lay in the back of the coop!). Now, with their quicheañera behind them, they are scrambling to keep up with the slightly older hens' production line. Now, anyone who has raised chickens up here knows that they have to be on lockdown to keep them safe from predators. Our feathery flock is protected by a 6 foot chainlink fence surrounded by hot wire. It's a bit like Jurassic Park, only without the quaking water glasses. And the fence works. The bears, coyotes, lions, and bobcats don't even bother. And, since chickens aren't known to be the best aviators, the fence contains them. They don't fly out. Usually. You see, a couple of weeks ago, we discovered a secret nest. It was filled with half a dozen new little eggs. The nest was well outside of the henitentiary, so we were confused. We weren't aware of a chicken outside of the fence.  We did a beak-count and everyone was inside. So, we set up a camera and waited. Sure enough, the next morning we watched as one of the young hens hopped onto a stump, fluttered up and over the fence, and then headed toward the nest. After awhile, she laid her egg and headed back toward the flock. With great effort, she eventually made it back to the top of the fence, and then hopped back down amongst her peeps inside the fence, as if nothing happened. She now does this daily.
