I live in LHC but after getting a runaround from State Farm I called USAA. I qualify because my husband and my father were in the military. I was accepted without any hesitation. It is worth giving them a call. I was assured that my children and grandchildren would qualify for USAA services based on past military service.

Thanks for mentioning that, Betty.
I've wondered about USAA because my dad was in the Navy.

What is everyone else doing for insurance? We are having trouble with Allstate right now. They basically want us to take down every tree within 100ft of the house. Are there any companies out there people have had luck with?

There is an earlier thread about insurance I started a couple weeks ago you might want to look at that as there was a lot of good discussion. I qualify for USAA and now a member myself but I did not qualify for their discounted insurance since my father who served did not become a USAA member. They offered my their broker service and referred me to Liberty Mutual....I am little annoyed with USAA and their somewhat deceiving ads on TV. I am working with an independent broker now and still awaiting a final response. Currently with State Farm, my insurance nearly doubled with them recently. Good luck!

Keep me posted if you find something. I had State Farm and they "sent a letter" asking for my phone number, which they had. When we didn't receive the letter they dropped us without notice. Right now I've got Allstate but their mitigation requirements are basically "Can you see trees? That's too close to trees."

After being dropped by State Farm suddenly, with the same “no trees/grrenery of any sort within 200 ft” we’ve had no issues with Lemonade insurance. Haven’t needed to put in claim so no clue how that would go, but our mortgage has been happy and lemonade has renewed us since 2021 without issue.

Insurance company reviews often seem futile. With insurers dropping clients based on perceived safety, it’s hard to find one worth recommending. State Farm, despite its stellar reviews, recently dropped California and parts of Colorado due to potential losses. Realistically, if JT burns to the ground, we’ll all likely face prolonged disputes with our insurers, regardless of our loyalty or the company’s reputation. To them, we’re just dollar signs until it’s time to put them on a check.
I just need someone to cover us so our mortgage company doesn't decide for us.
