The application process is beginning for participation in the 2025 Wildfire Partners sponsored Community Chipping Program. If you are not familiar with the program you can go to wildfirepartners.org then “Community Mitigation Services” and then “Chipping Program Information” for an explanation on how the program works. I am volunteering to be the Host again this year for the Bar-K. We need a minimum of five homeowners to schedule an “event”. As in years past there is no charge for the service. If you are interested I need you to send me your name, physical address and email address. Your phone number would be helpful but not required. If you have any friends and/or neighbors in the Bar-K that might be interested please let them know about the program. Once I have at least 5 homeowners who would like to participate I will submit the application. Any questions please send me an email or call me 970-692-9525.
Chipping Programs 2025

Hi!
Can we get the Mattoons Highlands neighborhood included in this chipping program since we are just across the road from The Bar K? Or, would we need to submit a separate application. We have very few full-time residence over here so I can’t imagine we would get more than two or three additional participants for you. Please let me know. Thank you. Peter B residents (sp). Spelling is my pet peeve ?

I’m sorry Peter but the program rules require that all participants reside in a specific neighborhood. FYI homeowners do not have to be home on the day of the event (once it’s scheduled) so any property owner, whether they are full-time or not, just has to have their slash pile ready. I would suggest you contact Zack Bertges with Wildfire Partners to answer any questions.

Good morning,
I am up in the Bar K and would have interest. I am doing some mitigation work on my property so I will have some more slash in the months ahead if timing could be aligned. Feel free to reach out and let me know. Thanks!

We might well be interested this year, but would not have our slash piles until the end of July most likely. Please keep me posted if you are creating a group for this and I can let you know as the spring and summer progress whether we will participate. Thanks very much . Janet Schofield 600 Rock Lake Road

I accidentally posted twice , and tried deleting one, and it looks like both posts were deleted. I'll try again.
Last year I applied and somehow got cut out of the chipping. I am going to have a lot of slash this year, but I'm going to have to hire some help to get it ready. I have a few trees down and need to have them cut up and hoping to use the wood for firewood next year . I then will have a lot of slash to chip . Can I apply and be informed about this group? or can I create my own chipping group? Will anyone want to be in my chipping group? I'm afraid of being cut out again , probably because of barking dog and court issues...I'm sorry about the dogs barking a sheriff that was here recently recommended some thing that is in a box that emits a sound only dogs hear . I'm going to try that if I can find such a device . I may need two of them to cover the dog yard and house . I'm open to any ideas and support around getting my down trees cut up and getting the slash chipped this year. I have a couple other projects and need to hire some help with them. The wildfire partners will supposedly reimburse me up to $500 for those projects and I could pay someone with that money to help me. One is removing wooden fence attached to the house , I tried last year and the fence is half down . The other is removing junipers , there are a few juniper areas and I was thinking about trying to rent one of those machines from Home Depot and digging them out . I'm open to advice , ideas and any support I can get. Thanks. I'm probably not going to be taking classes this summer or fall, and I won't have the student loans to survive on . I will be going through a divorce. I could also use a really good lawyer for that to try to keep my home but don't have the funds to pay one unless the court orders my husband to pay for my lawyer, which I'm going to ask them , but they might not. Status conference is in may if anyone has any advice on that. |
