Y’all! Get your rhinestones, leather, fringe, denim, cowboy boots and hats, and whatever other country gear you got and get your a** to the Merc this Saturday!
Whitney and I are hosting a sweet ‘90s-‘00s country party and want your butts there. Country music is for everyone and nostalgic music is good for our brains and spirits or something. Hailing from North Carolina and Georgia, this is also an opportunity for us to share some of our formative cultural context with y’all. And to enjoy it in new ways with you.
The evening will feature:
- country music, mostly our favorite queens but also some kings here or there, circa 1990s-2000s, and yes, some Cowboy Carter!
- some line dance instruction (thanks Breezy! You’re the best!)
- a couple awards for Best Get Up - yes, we will honor the best dressed so bring it
- drinks for sale (tip well! These folks are working an extra night to accommodate our silly times)
- I imagine it may devolve into karaoke; we can only hope and need YOU to help make it happen
- an opportunity to sign the petition to get a measure on the November ballot that will allow Colorado voters to vote abortion rights into our constitution (currently we have protective laws but not constitutional protections; only registered Colorado voters can sign)
Not featured: food; so eat beforehand and come prepared
Saturday, April 6
Doors open at 7pm
Xoxoxo
