You may have already seen the smoke from this, but there is a new fire start in Larimer county at the base of the Big Thompson Canyon. It's about 15 miles north of Lyons as the crow flies, a few hundred acres and spreading to the north. While this fire does not pose an imminent threat to our communities, it is a good indication of how dry our fuels are and how conducive the weather is right now to wildfire spread. This smoke column is visible throughout the county. 

Lefthand and some of our mutual aid partners are staffed for local response while other north county and Larimer resources are tied up during the initial response to the Alexander Fire.
