Free Generators!
#1

We are finally taking the plunge and going fully off grid for our power needs, and as part of that we are getting rid of our fossil fuel generators.  We have three, and we are offering them for free to the first person who will come and take both.

Both have issues, but all should be repairable.  It will be a DIY project, and come without any guarantee or assurance, but hey -- they're free! Smile

They are:

A Cummins / Onan 9500 Watt Dual Fuel Generator (Gasoline and Propane) with a key fob remote start.  This is perhaps five years old.  The motor runs great, but we've had occasional trouble getting 240V out of it.  Sometimes it works great, sometimes it's intermittent.  It may be our house wiring, it may be a voltage regulator part in the generator that has trouble sometimes.  We've only run it on propane, and it has never had gas in the tank.

A Briggs and Stratton 5k / 6.5k Starting gasoline generator.  This has been our workhorse, very reliable historically.  Recently its choke control assembly broke, and this would need to get fixed.  If you are good with internal combustion engines, you could probably get lots more good life out of it.

A Generac Ecogen 6k whole-house backup propane generator.  This is a backup generator sized unit in the usual Generac case; it would require a pickup truck or trailer and a couple people to take.  It has problems with its oil pump system (it has an oil reservoir that it pumps into and out of), and we just didn't want to pay for expensive house calls from our service company any more -- fixing things like that is beyond us.  But if it's not beyond you, this is otherwise a good unit, and everything else about it worked fine the last time we turned it on. Taken!!!

So, there you go: if you can handle generators that need work, they are yours!  We are only requiring that if you want either of them, you take all of them.  We let the Generac go seperately, since that's the biggest one we want taken.  But as of Sunday 1pm, both the Cummins and the Briggs and Stratton are available as a pair.
