Just in time for the 4th of July, the first Firecracker Hummingbird exploded on the scene in Peaceful Valley!
Disturbing the peace in the din of thousands of resident Broad-tailed hummers, the male Rufous takes center stage. Now on the southbound migration from breeding in the Pacific Northwest, Rufous stop to refuel on the way to Mexico for the winter. Rufous can be found as far north as Wasila, Alaska, and they can see Russia from there! From now into early September, the Rufous will flow through like a river of hummingbirds on their way south.
Keep those feeders clean and fresh every 3 days!
