Friday TT

There is a silver lining: the event pulled a permit, and with the permit we know where they are, when they are, and they know they need to adhere to particular rules. There are plenty of groups who openly use public roads for their rides without permits etc., and we don't know until they show up.

Nancy, I think you and Roger should absolutely take it up with the race organization, they should at least rent the space from you and insure you against liability. Blindly using/abusing private property is inexcusable. Arguably you are well within your rights to ask them to leave your property.

Permitting processes, whether events, commercial licenses, driving licenses, grow licenses, camp licenses, building permits or STR/ADU licenses allow for better understanding of what is happening, when it's happening, who's responsible and what standards need to be met. Frankly, given the nature of the event, I'm glad they pulled a permit. The late notification allows us to work with county permitting for future corrections in the process. They could have just run a TT up the canyon with no permit: open road event and not a bunch race, no different than pretty much any other day. And let's not forget the sports car clubs who race the canyon (more Lefthand than James) with some regularity. We get to peel them off the walls occasionally. Definitely no permits there.
