Everyone newsletter software

A friend of mine is taking over editor job for a beer newsletter.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a good software package (free or otherwise)?  Would appreciate any helpful hints!  Send ideas to pso.olson @ gmail.com

I have used SendGrid before and thought it worked well. There is a free tier but it is only good for 100 emails a day.
