Returned from a hike around Noon and noticed that our 50 gallon bear proof garbage can which had been strapped to a tree was down in the adjacent gully. The perpetrator received no reward as the can stayed locked! Since the attempt apparently happened before the snow there were no incriminating tracks.

How thrilling!  And quite a testament to the quality of the bear-proof-ed-ness of the garbage can.  I hope the ones Michelle is helping us to acquire for the town are as good.

Was the tree still attached to the garbage can?

Hey Vic & Kathleen ~

Thanks for the Heads UP!  I am pretty sure there are still many Bears who are not in hibernation and they gotta be hungry.
Randy O told me he saw fresh Bear Pooh, ON Nelson Road, two days ago.  Maybe the same Bear headed up the hill to go
"sleepy, sleepy"  

ALSO:  Fresh Deer kill up near Blue Jay Gate! (per Joy).  Jyoti saw a Lion below in the park a day or so ago.  Stay alert and you might be lucky enough to 
see a Lion.  Beautiful animals.  Or Joe's "Bobcat"!
