LH Canyon Closure/Incident 12-7
#1

Good morning everyone,
Thank you for your patience yesterday regarding the canyon closures. The incident was a cement truck that had rolled over, trapping it's driver inside. With help from BES, Boulder Mountain, Allenspark, and Longmont fire's heavy rescue, the driver was extracted after 3 hours' work and flown to a level 1 trauma center.

We try to close the canyon when necessary at points where people don't have to turn around, instead we can route you around the incident. Whenever we land a helicopter in the canyon please expect protracted closures. We will do everything we can to get the canyon reopened as quickly as possible. The closures are for your safety and for ours. It's hard to effect timely response when we're answering curiosity questions.

We will make efforts through our PIO group to get information out on the BB when we can to help everyone understand where the closures are so you can plan travel accordingly.

Have a safe day!
