Power returns Monday…
#1
This morning, Xcel Energy crews are out assessing damage to the electric system caused by extremely high winds in parts of Colorado that started yesterday afternoon and continue into this morning.
• In addition to the 55,000 customers whose electric service was turned off yesterday as a public safety measure, about 100,000 additional customers also have power outages caused by the high winds.
• Crews are assessing damage now and will begin working to restore power in these areas after winds have died down. More than 600 miles of lines were proactively de-energized, and before power is turned back on, our crews will need to visually inspect the lines to ensure it is safe to do so.
• With more than 150,000 customers without power due to this weather event, this restoration process will take time and will extend into Monday, April 8 and possibly longer for some customers.
• Customers can keep updated on the status of their outage on our outage map, which will be updated with estimated restoration times when they're available. See here: http://spr.ly/6189wRRsL

I e checked with excel twice this morning and there is no estimate yet of when power will be turned on in Jamestown. Driving to and from Boulder yesterday evening I observed not one truck assessing anything.

(from Longmont this morning). There are 12 power poles down (either completely knocked down or sheared half way down the pole) on the road between Left Hand Canyon Rd and Nelson Rd. As of 8 this morning there were no trucks or signs that they had started these repairs yet.  Not sure if this repair will keep us from power or not, but it is significant and looks like it will take a while to get fixed. Power is still out in Golden and west Denver, as well as parts of NoBo, so I think we are likely in for another day without power....

12:30 PM. Low flying helicopter coming through the area performing a visual inspection of the power lines. It was following the main feeder lines that supply the subdivisions up here.

There is action!

Workers staged at the old stage/lefthand intersection, workers working on a line on old stage, and passed trucks heading up at the bottom of Leehill.

Who else is still without power? I checked the excel outage site and it indicates we should have power but we don’t.
