Orange Tabby Cat
#1
Appears to be the same cat, again, on the prowl. It has some sort of harness/collar it's wearing.
I like the birds in my yard and my resident rabbit.
Looks like I'm going to have to purchase a live-trap and take it to an animal shelter, maybe the one in Greeley.

Hollis, this seems like a bit extreme for a kitty. Is it killing or attacking the rabbits and birds in your yard? Have you tried talking to the owner? Maybe they don’t check the BB to know that their cat is bothering you?

Hi, Megan

This cat was reported missing on the BB sometime back, I saw it in my yard shortly before leaving for work one morning, tried to catch it to return it to its owner, but it ran away. I posted that I saw it to give the owner some hope that it was still alive.

A month ago I was sitting outside watching my nesting flycatcher's and the cat was stalking them, crouched low and was ready to pounce when I scared it off.
This morning, said cat was crouched low in the grass and stalking something, couldn't see what, so I scared it off.
Cats put a severe dent in bird populations, google it.

Between the dogs and cats, it's a principled thing, some folks don't seem to care about their neighbors.
The majority of responsible pet owners in town go to great lengths to keeps their pets under control, there are a few that don't and all they can do is issue halfhearted apologies, BS excuses, gaslight the topic, put the onus on their neighbors and state that they'll try harder.

In the last year and a half, the dogs have exponentially become worse.

Hey, I think I know how this cat got stuck in my tree a few months ago and had to be rescued.

A few moments ago I observed it stalking my resident squirrel, the squirrel was raising hell sounding its alarm call and waving its tail, the cat jumped from the irrigation ditch pipe to the adjacent tree that the squirrel was in (same tree as last time),  and I shooed it away before it could climb the tree again and get stuck again.

So it's amazing, we have never rescued a cat form a tree in my now 40 years' of fire service. What we recommend, and it always works, is that you open a can of cat food and leave it at the bottom of the tree. Works every time, no risk of putting a ladder in a tree. I guarantee that you'll never see a cat skeleton in a tree. They get hungry, they come down.

Hey, O'B

The owners of said cat employed the resources of a arborist last time with climbing gear to rescue said cat that evidently had been in the tree overnight. I walked out to find 3 people in my yard and inquired WTF was going on and was informed that they were rescuing a cat, no one knocked on my door and asked for permission, or bothered to explain the issue, hey, who am I, just the property owner and maybe subject to liability issues should said tree climber get injured on my property.

Gotta go, the dogs up on Porphry View are barking their asses off,  on and off now for the last hour, wouldn't want to miss out on the entertainment.
Hoping these folks can find a shred of decency and get some help for their dogs, sounds like they've been locked in the house all day.

One of the most prominent authors in America today, Jonathan Franzen wrote a  great, great novel "Freedom". He is a big time conservationist and talks in the novel about the predation of cats, a non-indigenous species in North America, on birds in North America. I just googled it; 2.3 BILLION birds a year. Not the cats fault. But their guardians.   But heck, you should read the novel, its a great read.

I choose to keep my cat, Mr. Tuxedo inside. He's SO ferocious, if released outside, he would kill lots of birds. And some bobcats & coyotes.  Seriously though, I remember reading that a Boulder County Open Space ranger commenting" Letting your cats out in the mtns. is like putting an expiration date on them'.  Our last cat gotten taken;  so Mr. Tux  is an indoor cat.

I live on Porphyry View. I have dogs. I am with them all day. Only one of our dogs, Bodhi, has recently started barking—inside. The vet thinks it’s dementia. But he sleeps 20 hours a day and stops barking promptly on being picked up. I don’t hear other dogs barking up here. All the barking I hear is down below.

My apologies Marcia, the map I originally looked at had the streets mislabeled, looking now at the county map, it appears I should have stated Spruce St.

Hey all,
Just FYI, my orange and white cat got out and was missing for a short period, but I am not the owner of the orange tabby you have been seeing. My cats are strictly indoors, because of the predators around here. One might escape every now and again, but it is rare, and no one has been gone for more than a 12-hour period at most. I should have posted my boy had been found, but time escaped me, so my apologies.
