New to the Bar-K
#1
Hello Neighbors!
We recently moved to the Bar-K and wanted to reach out to introduce ourselves. We have an 8 year old daughter and 13 year old son.   It would be great to meet some of the neighbors and local kids.  We thought putting something up here might garner some interest from others.  Are there any suggested community events or other ways to get to know one another in this neck of the woods through the winter months?

We feel very grateful to live in such a beautiful place, and look forward to getting to know some of you soon.
Sincerely,
Lex and Jessica

Hi Lex and Jessica. Welcome. We do not have kids who live at home, although we do have a 9 year old granddaughter an a 12 year old grandson. Winter can be challenging for community events. We enjoy going to The Merc. They have live music and the food is amazing. They even host Trivia Night occasionally.  The Bar K also has a couple of book clubs which meets once a month. In the warmer months there is Pickleball in Jamestown. We do have 2 dogs. You may have passed by our home on Ranch, we have our Xmas lights up for everyone to enjoy. I do hope this helps some.

Wow, How cool. Glad to see someone introduce themselves. You are rare to do this. I have lived up here since the mid 1980's and back then it was more common to do this (it was the smart thing to do). BTW the road from Jimtown was not paved then and you could count on making a repair to your vehicle regularly. Yes the weather will separate the they from the thems. Not much up here to do except outdoor activities. I'd suggest in the spring to try Marrocco's in Ward. They are not open in the winter. Patrick

Welcome, L & J!

We have a son who will be so happy to hear that more kiddos have moved into the neighborhood! We would love to meet and get the kids together! There aren't a ton of community events during the winter months, but The Merc is definitely a great place to meet other locals. There is an event there on 12/20 where the local kids are singing carols and Santa stops by to visit. Rainbow always makes something tasty. Smile

Welcome to your new home!

Another weekly opportunity to socialize a little while waiting in line and "shopping" is the Food Pantry/Rescue every Monday from 5:30 to 6:30pm (aim to start lining up and get a number ball for the order in the line by around 5:15) at the Temporary Firehall on Cemetery Road in Jamestown.  Free food and getting to know your neighbors in line, if you introduce yourself!  Bring a shopping bag or two for your family.  Your neighbor Klaus N is a champ at this and can tell you more.

Looking forward to meeting you there or at the Merc sometime soon. Smile

Good call, Rose!  Heart It's a great way to meet all the wonderful people of the Jamestown area and help rescue some amazing food.

The food rescue posts on Monday afternoon about the food they have that week and any updates or changes to the schedule. They are also always looking for volunteers if you have some free time!
