It IS BEAR SEASON !
#1
Hey JimBillies, Bar-K, PV ~

It is that time of the year again.  I watched a video of a Polar BEAR MOM and her 3 Cubs emerging from their winter den in Alaska last week!

OUR BEARS should not be far behind, considering the warm temps we have had off and on. They will be hungry and food will be scarce
until the grass greens up.  Grass makes up a huge part of their diet!.

If you are new to town and not sure how to BEAR proof your habitat, post here or find me in the JT Directory.

It really is pretty simple:  Eliminate attractants: TRASH, bird seed, compost, pet food, food wraps in your car/yard etc AND you
greatly reduce your chances of an uninvited  guest.  TRASH is the #1 problem with BEARS!

Cars Clean AND LOCKED!
Homes and garages Clean and LOCKED
CLEAN AND LOCKED ~  EVERYTHING

We/I greatly appreciate knowing when Our BEARS show up in town. The SOB Group is tasked with tracking Bear activity
and protecting BOTH Bears and Humans from harm.

Post here, or contact me with sightings.  Thank you in advance.!  Color, Size and Location please.

From 2014--2017 we killed/destroyed 4 Bears in JT.  That folks is on US, as a community.

We can and have Saved Our Bears for the last 7 years.  Let's make it 8 years ?!
I have an "SOB Jamestown Bumper Sticker" for all who report Bear sightings AND
share a photo ! (this helps allot!)

Help US Save Our Bears !

We await with trepidation. Or real concern, because we're feeding birds big time now and the electric bear fence is still buried in snow.  Great birds, BTW.

Our last bear visit was a surprise after two days of snow totaling 18 inches from Nov. 26-28.  Lumbering Jack had been a regular but with the snow we were sure he'd be in hibernation.  The snow buried our electric bear fence so it was off.  But at 6:30 pm., there was Lumbering Jack, bigger and fatter than ever looking in the window a mere 4-5 feet from us at the dining table.  He had found a little ball sunflower feeder, but Kobe charged and drove him off.  How many Siamese have ever done that?

At that point, I disconnected the lower electric fence lines and kept the fence energized for another week.  Sleep tight, LJ.  See you in the spring.
