Jim Gym - hey parents - teens are jeopardizing continued use
#1
This week, teens had to be asked to leave the gym.
The rule still is "no unaccompanied kids".
The training area became a disorderly mess.
"Just change the code to the door" isn't an OK solution, as the firefighters use this space,
and don't need more details to deal with.
If you have any great ideas about other ways to resolve this problem,
contact me and let's talk.

In other gym news, someone dropped off a stationary bike.
This isn't OK, although the spirit of giving is appreciated.

We have enough equipment - please ask before donating,
so you don't give us a disposal problem.
We could still  use a fan.

I appreciate this information and caution Robert.  The fire department has struggled with this challenge too.  The fire hall is and should be a community resource but if it's not respected and taken care of we'll have a hard time staying supportive of the Jim Gym.  Our priority is keeping the department secure and functional as a JVFD and town asset.  It cannot be treated as an open play area and unfortunately we've discovered it in poor condition on a few occasions.  If the building and equipment is not respected and/or misused or neglected, it's going to be difficult to continue to support the gym.  And as Robert asked, do no leave unsolicited donations for either the gym or JVFD.  It would be really great to keep this a healthy community space.
