Found my first tick of the season after a hike. I typically see quite a few for a few weeks in the spring, so do your tick checks of yourself and your pets!

Yep, same! Pulled one off my neck (gross!) and all I did was walk around Elysian Park!

What type of ticks are we looking for? Deer? Dog? ... Thanks!

All of the above! .
PS: I just read online via Colorado State University that we have 27 species of Ticks in Colorado. However, the Rocky Mountain Wood Tick is the most commonly encountered species.

My understanding is that the smaller deer ticks are not - to date - in Colorado. Lyme disease cases (diagnosed in CO) have been imports from places outside of CO. The dog tick however is here. It is brown and has disease like tulerimia (sp?) and Ricky Mt tick fever. They can swell up if they get a good meal.
