In the wake of this event, I think what we need is each other.  We don't take our small beautiful lives up here for granted, or the eccentric marvelous community that nurtures us.  Jamestown/Bark K is such a beautifully woven tapestry of people.  Before the pandemic we were closer knit, and we struggled to stay that way through those four years of isolation.
We're now looking at four years of what is likely to be difficult at best.  This is the time to re-strengthen the bonds between us, to help each other in our small, profound ways.  This is not the isolating event of a pandemic, it is a time to come together with more love, compassion, ingenuity and creativity than ever (something I've found Jamestown/Bar K has plenty of).  One of the few bright lights during the pandemic was that more folks moved up to the Jamestown/Bar K area...new blood for our beloved mountain town!  Together we can continue co-creating the kindness, thoughtfulness and health of our community.  I will keep my finger on the daily pulse of what's happening on the national/world stage, but as someone who is settling in to the life-phase of Elder, the daily work of a healthy community is my focus.  I plan to strengthen the bonds between us in my small little part.  Lead with love, but stay sensitive to your environment - I think that's a healthy recipe for balance and clarity in a time like this.

Kara,
That was so beautifully said. Thank you for this lovely "pep talk". I sure needed it!
