MOUNTAIN FOOD RESCUE
#6
Thanks Julie! If we can self regulate that's for the best for sure. And thanks for the explanation on the charter. The reason I know someone was turned away is because one of the recipients, and the one who was asked to stop coming is one of our firefighters (Lefthand). There are actually two of them that I know of that take advantage of the mission of the food rescue who don't currently live in the zone, and we have other responders who live in the zone who do rescue food. Both of the ones turned away have lived in the district in the past, and they still serve the district as volunteer FF/EMT's. And I am aware of other recipients who have been past residents of JT that assist in rescuing food, and they are not turned away even though they no longer live in the zone. I'm wondering, since these two serve the district, if they would be allowed. If not, I'll have the discussion with them and spare the volunteers. I'm sure even with the robust recipient response that there is still food going into the dumpster. Allowing them would serve the mission of the rescue and help folks who serve the district.
